Among Maine's best kept secrets are the many fine craft studios in out of the way places. One of the most unique is the studio of Richard J. Macdonald which produces some of the most sought after stained glass items in America.
In a converted garage that had once housed Model A's and coal for the house, a beautiful line of sconces, lamps, accessories, and custom work is produced and sent to galleries and well known stores throughout the country and as far as Japan.
It's not fancy and there's no showroom, but the work is fascinating and you are welcome to visit, look or purchase. Open 9 a.m. to whatever, most any day, year round.
Turn left at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church on Atlantic Avenue onto Lobster Cover Road one mile to a large group of mailboxes and a hydrant. Park or turn left, fifty feet, first drive on the right.
For more information about custom work, please contact us by phone or email. |

The Macdonald Stained Glass studio is located in Boothbay Harbor, ME a peninsula on the southern Maine coast and mecca for summer vacationers. Customers from all over the US have tracked us down over the years and visited us at our informal studio. Please feel free to stop in if you find yourself in the area.
